Chairs

Both designs combine a moulded seat with a wooden Eiffel-style base, but the DAW has armrests while the DSW has an armless seat. The DAW provides a more enclosed seating position and requires more space around the dining table. The slimmer DSW is easier to position side by side and generally allows more chairs around the same table. Compare the exact seat height, overall width and DAW armrest height before ordering, especially if the chair must slide underneath the tabletop.

ABS chairs usually have a firmer, smoother and more rigid seat, while PP chairs are slightly more flexible and better able to absorb everyday knocks. ABS often provides a more refined glossy finish, whereas PP is commonly chosen for its durability, lower weight and easier maintenance. The exact colour, texture and flexibility can vary by model, so compare the product specifications and photos before choosing. This comparison applies to the Eames DSW and Eames DSR chair models.

Both chairs use a moulded plywood seat and backrest, but their bases create a distinctly different appearance. The Eames DCM has a slender metal rod base, giving it a lighter and more industrial look. The Eames DCW uses moulded plywood legs, creating a warmer, more sculptural all-wood appearance. The DCM is slightly taller at the seat, while the DCW has a lower and wider profile. Compare the exact dimensions, finishes and available space around your dining table before choosing.

Check that the chair’s seat height suits your dining table. As a rule of thumb, allow 25–30 cm between the seat and the underside of the tabletop for comfortable legroom and an ergonomic sitting position. If the chair has armrests, also check that they fit underneath the table.
